Cardiac Cath Lab
The Scope of Care for this Department/Team includes the following:
Types of Patients and Age Served (Consider major age of disability group) :
Patients of all activity levels, patients from any geographycal location, patients of all Socioeconomic status, patients with suspected or known vascular disease, primarily limited to ages from young adult to elderly.
Methods used to Assess and Meet Patients' Care Needs:
Patients are assessed prior to arrival to cath lab to determine care of needs. Reassessment continues during the procedure by a RN or RT in order to meet all of the patient's care needs. Reassessment includes physiological monitoring: blood pressure, pulse, O2 saturation, cardiac monitoring, respiratory, and location of cath.
Scope and Complexity of Patients' Care Needs:
Cardiac Catheterization
The appropriateness, clinical necessity and timeliness of support services provided directly by the hospital or through referral contacts.
Support services such as material management, pharmacy, laboratory, respiratory, etc., is provided in a timely manner based on patient's needs.
Range of conditions and diagnosis treated:
Patients with known or suspected cardiovascular disease, patients with known or suspected PVD, patients with known or suspected vascular/circular problems in any other area of the body.
Types of an availability of staff carrying out these activities (i.e., physician, nurse, etc.)
Cardiologist, Rn performs circulation duties and hemodynamic monitoring. Licensed raiographer performs scrub duties, and/or image acquisition and processing.
